Treatment of Convergence Excess Esotropia: Prism Adaptation (Abstract)
Pamela J. Kutschke, C.O.
Difficulties involved in effectively treating convergence excess esotropia have prompted the extension of the use of prism adaptation to patients with this type of strabismus. Through the use of prism adaptation for the near deviation, it can be determined whether surgery can be performed for the near angle without increasing the risk of overcorrection. By operating for the near deviation following successful prism adaptation, patients are able to discontinue bifocal wear in favor of single vision lenses.
