Surgical Management of Excyclotorsion (Abstract)
Sandra G. Finkelman, C.O., Malcolm L. Mazow, M.D.

Excyclotorsion is commonly seen in the patient with superior oblique palsy. A surgical procedure commonly known as Harada-Ito has often been the management for extorsion.

The case histories of three patients with excyclotorsion following head injuries are reviewed. Since torsion was the primary complaint, a modified Harada-Ito procedure was performed in all three cases. Postoperative examination revealed that torsion was reduced or eliminated in all patients. Further management of excyclotorsion will be discussed in this retrospective paper.
