Occlusion Induced Esotropia in Siblings (Abstract)
Jacqueline W. Frank, C.O., Burton J. Kushner, M.D. and Monte D. Mills, M.D.

The occurrence of strabismus as a result of treatment for amblyopia is a concern in patients with apparently straight eyes and anisometropic amblyopia. Only a small number of cases of this complication have appeared in the literature. Details of the treatment for two patients; siblings, with occlusion induced esotropia are presented. These patients share anisometropic hyperopia in common with other reported cases. The authors recommend full, balanced correction of the cycloplegic refractive error, initial treatment with glasses only, and part time occlusion in treatment of anisometropia in patients with straight eyes.
