Elias I Traboulsi, M.D., Mohamad D. Jaafar, M.D., Hasan M. Kattan, M.D., Marshall M. Parks, M.D.

The spectrum of congenital fibrosis of the extraocular muscles is wide and includes patients with unilateral or bilateral involvement. We present the ocular findings in 24 patients with the different types of fibrosis syndromes and the results of surgical management in 13 patients. One patient had the Prader-Willi syndrome and one had neural misdirection and Marcus Gunn jaw winking. Up to three rectus muscles per affected eye were recessed, sometimes with conjunctival augmentation. Ptosis surgery was performed weeks later in ten patients. Fair or good overall results were achieved in all except two patients.
