James Watrous (1908–1999) was the Oskar Hagen Professor of Art History at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. As an artist he was known especially for his murals and mosaics, and he was the driving force in founding the Elvehjem Museum of Art at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is the author of The Craft of Old-Master Drawings, also published by the University of Wisconsin Press.
